Mobile CBT Assistant App for Caregivers of Alzheimer’s Patients

We developed a mobile application designed to support family caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease through guided CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) tools. The app helps caregivers manage emotional stress, develop coping strategies, and improve daily caregiving through structured, evidence-based guidance.

Initial request

The client approached us with a vision to create a lightweight mobile assistant that could provide daily psychological support to non-professional caregivers. The goal was to integrate CBT principles into a simple, intuitive tool without requiring clinical expertise from the users.

Challenges and Solutions

High Emotional Load on Caregivers

Many users experienced anxiety, guilt, and burnout. We introduced structured CBT journaling, mood check-ins, and micro-sessions to promote emotional regulation.

Low Tech Literacy Among Older Users

We designed a highly accessible user interface with large text, audio instructions, and minimal navigation to ensure inclusivity.

Need for Personalized Guidance Without a Therapist

A dynamic content engine adjusts daily prompts and exercises based on user mood trends and caregiving scenarios.

Privacy and Sensitivity of Data

All personal reflections and emotional logs are encrypted end-to-end, and the app complies with HIPAA and GDPR standards.

Outcome

After launch, over 72% of users reported a noticeable improvement in emotional well-being within the first 6 weeks of use. The app achieved a 4.8/5 average rating in caregiver communities, and the client successfully partnered with two Alzheimer support organizations for broader distribution.
